Above a picture of me engaging in typical Finnish way of transportation. What makes it so Finnish is not the "vehicle" being used, but what is being transported.
I spent one relaxing night at my parents' cabin. It is about one hour drive from Helsinki, and is located totally in the middle of the woods. The closest neighbors are at least half a mile away and the only sounds you can hear are from the surrounding nature. The cabin itself is near perfect, equipped with electricity, pit toilets and a very good sauna! There are no unnecessary amenities which would ruin the atmosphere. The cabin is not big, but the lot that is situated on is huge. For people from BC to consider: the whole property cost only 50000 euros. They are certainly not running out of land in Finland!
Note that the picture above is taken at midnight. Even then it was still light enough to read outside! Finnish summer at its best!
More to come as soon as I get pictures from there.
